The first International Thermprocess Summit (ITPS) premiered on July 9 and 10 at the CCD in Düsseldorf, Germany. Organized by CECOF and the VDMA Thermo Process Technology Association and its partners Messe Düsseldorf and Vulkan-Verlag the summit made a successful debut with 150 international participants from 16 countries.  Top-class experts from all over the world, e.g. from Brazil, China, India, Japan and the USA, considered it worthwhile making the trip to attend the two-day summit. At the concurrent exhibition 27 companies presented their products and solutions.

Presentations and discussions focused on the central role of thermo processing processes for the development of energy efficient manufacturing solutions. Given the wide range of customers’ industrial sectors, efforts have already resulted in efficiency increases, e.g. in the metallurgical industries, in automobile manufacturing or the glass and ceramics sectors. Questions regarding the possibilities to further enhance efficiency and to conserve resources were in the centre of the discussions following the experts’ presentations on the first day of the conference.

René Branders, President of the European Committee of Industrial Furnace and Heating Equipment Associations (CECOF) in Brussels drew attention in a tweet sent directly from the conference to the “outstanding debates” that were being held in Düsseldorf.

“We were impressed by the wide range of topics covered by the presentations – from macroeconomic questions to global marketing strategies. We think that the concept adopted by ITPS, involving outstanding speakers interacting with the top companies in the industry, is very effective. A follow-up event is definitely welcome”, reported Dr Andreas Seitzer, Managing Director of SMS Elotherm.

The vice president for heat treatment equipment at the Seco Warwick Group, Thomas Kreuzaler, emphasises that ITPS was a very successful event with excellent networking opportunities that was a neutral forum for observing how business is developing in the thermprocess technology field.

The organizers are convinced that the successful launch of the ITPS constitutes a clear evidence of the future viability of the concept. „We will now continue to share the results and solutions with the users’ communities. The upcoming Thermprocess exhibition will then present the ideal international forum to continue the dialogue“, summarized Dr Timo Würz, General Secretary of CECOF and Director of the VDMA Thermo Process Technology Association.

The ITPS conference is part of the established Bright World of Metals event inviting the industry community to come to Düsseldorf for its trade fairs GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS and NEWCAST from 16th to 20th of June 2015.
