IHEA's 80th Annual Meeting

22-25th April 2009

CECOF Representatives took part in IHEA's 80th Annual Meeting
The 80th Annual Meeting of IHEA, the American Industrial Heating Equipment Association, took place from 22-25th April 2009 in Santa Ana Pueblo near Albuquerque, New Mexico.

CECOF, being associate member of IHEA, was represented by President Mike Debier and General Secretary Dr Gutmann Habig. This years' meeting which was held partly in conjunction with MTI, the American Metal Treating Institute, was dominated by presentations on the oil, gas and energy situation, the decline of the American manufacturing industry and the issue of driving innovation in the workplace.

While the number of member companies (54) stayed constant, the number of attendees was less than in previous years due to the overall economic situation. An important part of the programme was attributed to committee meetings. Mike Debier took part in the safety standards committee while Gutmann Habig took part in the marketing communications and membership committee.

In his report, CECOF President Mike Debier addressed the general activities of CECOF while Gutmann Habig addressed the economic issues.

The newly elected president Max Hoetzl (Surface Combustion) made clear that it is in IHEA's interest to intensify the cooperation with CECOF and also the Japanese association JIFMA. This particularly refers to the ISO 244 project as well as education and training.
