CECOF General Assembly 2015



October 09, 2015, Helsinki (Finland)

The 43rd  General Assembly was held in Helsinki (Finland) on October 09, 2015, attended by delegates from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey. The associate members IHEA (US) and JIFMA (Japan) were also present.

The meeting focused on market and business trends as well as the economic situation. The representatives from the member associations, individual and associate members gave reports on the market situation in their countries.

René Branders and Dr Franz Beneke updated the participants on the status of the CECOF activities in the field of standardisation (ISO/TC 244, CEN/TC 186) and regarding other technical activities (ErP, gas quality, REACH, MCPD, GAD).

A dedicated technical meeting addressing the manufacturers of ITPE was announced for April 26, 2016 in Frankfurt. It will be of interest to the responsible technical experts (mechanics, electrics, controls) in the CECOF member companies and to the association experts.

After hosting a company visit to Bodycote Lämpökäsittely Oy on October 08, 2015, Sales Director Erik Saviranta gave a lecture to the GA participants on "Combined heat treatment and corrosions resistance, Corr-i-Dur®", which is a proprietary Bodycote thermochemical treatment for simultaneous improvement of corrosion resistance and wear properties through generating an iron nitride-oxide compound layer.

"Technology and heat treatment industries in Finland" was the topic of the presentation by Matti Spolander, (The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries, Heat Treatment and Forging Group). He provided in-depth information on the industry and the market situation in Finland.

New CECOF Presidency
As the term of the actual Presidency ended with the 2015 GA, elections were held prior to the meeting via circulation procedure. René Branders (FIB, Belgium) and Dr Karl Nolte (Tenova, Germany) were re-elected as President and 1st  Vice President. Dr Peter Schobesberger (Aichelin Holding, Austria) was elected as 2nd  Vice President, replacing Catharina Lindgren (Sarlin Furnaces, Sweden), who took over a new position outside the furnace industry.


The General Assembly 2016 will be held in Krakow/Poland on October 14.
